When Hiring a Professional Construction Company

Have you ever tried working with your hands? I mean doing the dirty stuff – like mixing the cement and stacking up blocks to build your dream home? What about holding a hammer and saw? Have you even tried using it to fix your broken door?
I am fond of watching a TV program called Clean House and I am amazed at how these people turn a chaotic space/room into a heaven. So I was wondering, how do they even achieve “cleaning” the house in 48 hours?
Well, I really don’t know what goes behind the scenes but what I do know is that it is hard to find a professional team to do the work. Clean House doesn’t just clean the house, but they make some minor to semi-major renovation to the homes they have featured in their show. What makes it interesting is that they can do it with a tight budget. I’ve been dreaming of my own Clean House project and I don’t think my budget can be just within a couple of thousand dollars!
I searched online and looked for reputable construction companies. Of course I’ve handled a hammer once and even tried helping to paint our room. But now that I’m thinking of getting an almost major renovation, I need to hire a professional crew to guarantee a job well done. Aside from the expenses this is going to be an investment for me. I have a couple of rooms that I am looking to fix along with an old basement that I haven’t been into for the last seven years.
After going through different construction company websites, I was able to figure out what I need –
1. Look for a construction company that you are somewhat familiar with. Most of the information found on their website may or may not be true. If you know someone who dealt with that company, it won’t hurt to ask a feedback from them.
2. When asking feedback, include the following: “Were they able to finish their job on time?” “Did they in any way over price or over charge you?” “How were the workers?” “Did they explain the details of what they did?” and other questions that you can think of.
3. If you can’t get a feedback, check on customer comments and ratings. There’s a good chance that you may learn a thing or two regarding their service.
4. Make sure you have everything written or under contract – how much will they bill you, when do you expect the job to be done and so on.
If you’re looking for a long term achievement with your home renovation, its best you follow these simple steps. Otherwise, even if you think you’ve saved a lot because they charged you lower rates – you might end up paying more for another round of work.
